My connection with Bengali culture is very different from other members as I am an American who married a Bengali man. My husband's pride and passion in his culture and cuisine was part of my initial attraction to him. Over the five years we have been together I have developed my own appreciation for the beauty and uniqueness of Bengali customs, movies, food, and community. Although I know I still have much to learn, I am excited about that journey. I have also been grateful for the welcoming spirit of the Bengali people whom I have met along the way. Hi PRANAM family! I have been living in the DFW area for the last few years with my family. I love living in the DFW area for its warm weather and loving Bengali/Indian community. I am also deeply passionate about community engagements. I had been actively participating in various community works since my childhood days. I was engaged in organizing blood donation camps, raising funds for building libraries, organizing sports events, and organizing Bengali festivals, in my hometown in Bengal. This involvement helped me to learn the importance of community and helping others. It’s an experience that has enriched my understanding of social responsibility. Hello! I am Srayasri from Durgapur - however that’s where I have my ancestral home, otherwise I have been a migrating individual across India owning to my father’s livelihood. Have been staying in Kolkata since 2013 permanently before moving to Dallas, TX - my first venture outside India in May 2022. Since then Texas has been our home (with my husband Aniruddha).
I have in the profession of customer relationship since 2019 but while I am on a career break, I love to put in my time in all other activities that keep me busy - cooking, painting, DIYs, gardening and parenting for pets (friends’). What’s different here from India is the absence of a big friends circle seating round table talking out goods and bads of life, sharing thoughts. With Pranam, we wish we will definitely bridge the gap as we joyously contribute towards the society as a whole.
